What impact does the Hamas terrorist attack of October 7, 2023, have on art and culture?

This controversial topic was the subject of the discussion series “Talking about…”, which was organized by the Bavarian Antisemitism Commissioner

Dr. Ludwig Spaenle in cooperation with the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich.

In the run-up to the panel discussion, our Chairwoman had the honor of speaking alongside the President of LMU Munich

Prof. Dr. Dr. hc Bernd Huber and Dr. Ludwig Spaenle gave one of the opening speeches and found clear words in doing so.

"Where is the outrage? Where is the outcry and civil courage from the ranks of democratic civil society? Since October 7, 2023, the Israeli art scene has been systematically excluded from the international art scene, often with flimsy arguments. This is completely unacceptable."

Thanks to Dr. Ludwig Spaenle and of course to the renowned guests who participated in the panel discussion:

The Consul General of the State of Israel for Southern Germany, Talya Lador-Fresher, extremism expert Ahmad Mansour, and cabaret artist Christian Springer. We would also like to thank the director of the Tel Aviv Museum of Art, Tania Coen-Uzzielli, who impressively describes in her video message how the museum has found its own ways to overcome the current international isolation in the art scene through creative problem-solving and resilience.
